Orgatec 2026: change as the starting point
Orgatec 2026 takes place on 27–30 October in Cologne. For the first time in its history the fair has a central theme: "From rooms to relationships: designing spaces in an ever-changing world".
One of the two megatrends of this edition is "Transition". The organiser writes that "change is the new reality" and sees transition competence as a key feature of forward-thinking organisations. Workspaces should be designed with the flexibility that this change requires.
For a company buying furniture, this is a very practical question: can what goes into the office today be moved, extended or used in a different zone two years from now?
Three zones instead of one layout
Bejot, a Polish manufacturer we work with, will present a stand themed be:together in Cologne (hall 7.1, stand D020/E021). It describes the office as a system of relationships, divided into three zones:
- be:balanced — focus and rest, few stimuli,
- be:comfortable — confidential talks, meetings and teamwork with moderate stimuli,
- be:connected — intensive collaboration and exchange, many stimuli.
The manufacturer stresses that no zone is more important than another. The takeaway for purchasing: instead of a single desk-next-to-desk layout, plan several types of places — and furniture that can move between them.
Furniture that can be moved
The simplest flexibility test: does rearranging a room require an installation crew?
- Haali — lightweight conference chairs with seven base types, including swivel versions on castors for workshops. The collection also includes acoustic screens and a table, ordered as one set. More: Bejot Haali.
- Multiwall — a mobile screen with a magnetic whiteboard surface on a metal frame, 1400 or 1710 mm wide and 1900 mm high. It separates a work zone in an open space and carries the team's notes between meetings. More: Bejot Multiwall.
- Quadra — acoustic booths the manufacturer calls "a room within a room". The PB-R version has transport castors, so a phone booth can be moved when the office layout changes. More: Bejot Quadra.
Systems that grow with the team
The second test: will it be possible to buy more pieces of the same line in a few years?
- Linje (design: Kasper Mose) — modular soft seating whose modules connect into lines that lead through the space. It was originally designed for education, where furniture must withstand intensive use and quickly change layout. Straight modules are 750, 1500 and 2250 mm wide. More: Bejot Linje.
- Fora Office — a modular system for meeting and informal work zones: 15 elements in the family, tables included. Modules can be added. When buying more years later, it is worth checking fabric availability, as the colour may differ slightly between batches. More: Bejot Fora Office.
- Saar — a modular steel shelving system for storage, dividing an open space, hanging clothes and seating. It can stand freely as a partition, and the HANG version is wall-mounted. The code describes the module grid — 3X5 means 3 columns and 5 rows. More: Bejot Saar.
All collections listed except Quadra carry a 5-year manufacturer's warranty on our product pages.
5 questions before buying furniture for an office that will change
- Can workstations be moved without an installation crew?
- Will you be able to buy the same collection in a few years?
- Is the system modular — can it be extended with more workstations?
- What is the manufacturer's warranty and what does it cover?
- Will the furniture work in a different office layout — open space, meeting room, quiet zone?
If the answer to three of the five questions is "I don't know", it is worth pausing before ordering.
